CWHI is proud to announce an award by Saipem S.p.A for the manufacture and supply of approximately 63,000 metric tons of steel products for the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) Offshore Compression Complexes “COMP2” Project.
Sub-Assemblies at Hefei and Qinzhou Yards, China
CWHI’s scope of work includes the production of 41,000 metric tons of structural tubulars for legs and bulk bracings, including end preparation with tolerances of +/-5mm, machined via our newly invested profiling machines able to operate with leg tubulars up to a maximum of 40 meters long. Each item weighs up to 320 tons with a maximum wall thickness of 150mm. Our tubulars will be supplied into the Jacket Structures, Compression Platforms, Living Quarters, Flares, Interconnecting Bridges and Deck Structures. Additionally, CWHI will supply 22,000 metric tons of high-grade offshore plates for the project. The fabrication will be carried out via our three LSAW yards in Hefei, Qinzhou and Zhongshan.
Dale Young, Executive Director at CWHI, commented, “We are delighted to be awarded this significant project by Saipem, a long-standing client of CWHI. This award reflects the confidence key customers have in our ability to deliver large scale energy infrastructure projects in the Middle East that support continued energy development in the region.”
This announcement follows the attendance of QatarEnergy LNG and Saipem S.p.A’s project representatives at our Zhongshan Yard facility in China in August 2023 for a ceremony to celebrate first production of steel products destined for the NFPS Offshore Compression Complexes COMP2 Project.
The COMP2 Project is part of the NFPS Offshore Compression development that encompasses the installation of new assets in Qatar’s North Field, including compression complexes at a number of locations to sustain gas supply to the existing liquefied natural gas (LNG) production trains.
